Senator Summers discusses platform following primary
(CORDELE, GA) – After the dust settled in the Republican Primary, Crisp County’s Carden Summers will represent the Republicans on the November ballot.
Summers is finishing out the term left by senator, Greg Kirk following his passing in December, and he wants to unite people across the 9 counties that makes up the district.
“I’m here for you guys too. I want to make sure that everyone knows that. We need to be a team player here in southwest georgia. We don’t have all the amenities that north georgia has, and we have to really work together to make things happen her,” says Summers Thursday morning.
One of the larger aspects of the Crisp County-based senator’s goals will be to help save jobs that were lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic
Summers tells us, “We need to work to save teachers, we need to stop the furlough days if possible. I don’t want to have to have furlough days. I want to go up there and see if we can fund the budget fully to make sure they’re covered. We need to make sure that we have funding available.”
While Senator Summers was only voted into the position in March, one of the larger goals of his platform will be to help maintain and grow the representation for South Georgia in Atlanta.
He says, “That’s what maintains the numbers, that’s what maintains the representatives and senators in the area. Without that, you don’t have a voice in atlanta, and that’s where all the money, the projects, the industry, and the trade come from.”
Summers will be running against Democratic candidate, Mary Egler in November.
