(ALBANY, GA) – The Salvation Army of Albany has had to shut down an aspect of their chapter that has been part of the community for 30 years.

The organization announced Wednesday that the Salvation Army Thrift Store would be closing permanently.

Captain, James Sullivan says that while the thrift store is shutting down, they’re not leaving Albany after being part of the community for decades.

Sullivan says the struggles of the pandemic are why the thrift store has had to close down.

He tells us, “wWith the COVID-19, and every month, we go over the finances, and it just wasn’t in a good place, the thrift store. The thrift store had been struggling for years at this point.”

Captain Sullivan says they will still be offering assistance through their programs and partnerships throughout the community.
