(ALBANY, GA) – With more than 20 pastors coming together to figure out how they can safely re-open their churches, the Coalition of Pastors has a tentative date in mind.

They’re looking towards a return on June 7th, and discussing what they need to do before then.

“We’re going to have to consider how we’re going to prepare our church buildings prior to opening them up. Most certainly there’s going to have to be some kind of deep cleaning, of the entire church building,” says Rhema International Ministries Pastor, Scott Sanders

As well as wiping down pews and bibles, many churches are trying to find a way to adhere to social distancing guidelines for the safety of their congregants.

That doesn’t mean though that parishioners should have to feel worried when they come back to church.

Pastor Simmons says, “You can emphasize how clean, how sanitized, how safe the church is and that the church is ready for their return, and excited about the re-gathering of the members.”

While congregants may find it tough to adjust to how houses of worship are changing in the pandemic, pastors are hoping they’ll come in with an open mind.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Pastor, Dr. Daniel Simmons says, “Here is an opportunity for us to improve upon ministry. To improve upon how we have been serving each other, and our community.”

With many of the churches now focusing on the beginning of june to bring people back together, there’s plenty that will need to be done beforehand.
