CORDELE, GA- Erika Davis has been paying the rent on a Clegg Blvd home for the past five years.
“They need improvements that they can do, but they don’t do,” said Erika Davis.
Southwest Georgia United, a non profit owns and manages the property.
Davis says she and her six kids sleep in mold infested rooms and have to walk on dilapidated floors.
“It’s so frustrating, it makes me want to cry thinking about what we have to go through,” said Davis.
Mold can be found in Davis’ bedroom and bathroom.
The mother of six says her children’s health has suffered because of the mold.
“Every time my children get up it sounds like they can’t breathe. They are struggling to breathe/Constant congestion. The smell, it smells damp. It’s not pleasant,” said Davis.
Davis just wants Southwest Georgia United to fix the problems in her home.
“We need decent housing here and this company is for that purpose, and they aren’t
serving that purpose at all.’
Southwest Georgia United informed South Georgia Television news that they couldn’t discuss the situation right now, but assured up they will address Erica’s concerns with us, at a later date.
