Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany hosts former Secretary of State

ALBANY, Ga. — Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Albany are getting a few words of encouragement from a former Secretary of State.
The Boys and Girls Club of Albany hosted a virtual career fair Thursday with guest speakers such as former Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice, and U.S. Air Force Doctor, and former Boys and Girls Club member, Yashika Edwards.
CEO Marvin Laster, and current Boys and Girls Club member, Taylor Walker spoke about how even during the pandemic, adolescents like Taylor can still be inspired to pursue greatness.
Laster says, “It’s easy for people to lose sight of hope, and we want them to know that hope is not cancelled, hope is not delyaed, and hope is not postponed. And for many young people in this community, we are the last bastion of hope.”
While Walker tells us, “It’s important because people don’t think that women can make a difference in the world as much as she did, and that women can’t help as much as we do.”
Laster says they plan on continuing to host these virtual career fairs for Boys and Girls Club members.
