APD investigating Sunday night homicide
(ALBANY, GA) – The Albany Police Department are looking into the death of 18 year old Johnny Wright II.
Law enforcement arrived at the 2000 block of Juniper Driver just before 11:30 Sunday evening to find Wright dead.
According to Albany Police Chief, Michael Persley, the incident that led to Wright’s death stemmed from an argument online.
In a phone conference Monday afternoon, Chief Persley said, “What we do know is that these were teenagers who were having a dispute through Facebook…”
Chief Persley went on to talk about how disputes like this need to be settled before they potentially get out of hand.
He says, “We want to ask for the whole community that we want to deal with conflict in another way. And trying to deal with things over social media is not the way to handle it.”
As investigations continue into Wright’s homicide, chief persley wants people to consider if an argument online warrants what it could lead to.
“Before you decide to react to something that’s posted on social media, you’ve got to think ‘is your life worth it?’ and every life is precious,” says the Albany Police Chief.
