Dougherty County suspends court proceedings amid Coronavirus
(ALBANY, GA)- In wake of the latest number of Coronavirus cases, the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office announcing changes to their visitation police for the Dougherty County Jail.
The Dougherty County courts have also announced that they have suspended court proceedings for the next 30 days.
Superior Court Judge, Willie Lockett says while proceedings will be put on hold, the court will still continue.
“The courthouse is not being closed. All of the courthouse related functions will still continue. Clerks’ Office will still be open, District Attorney’s Office will still be open, the Public Defender office will be open. Everything that’s going on will still continue to go on,” says Judge Lockett.
Judge Lockett announced that jurors originally scheduled for jury duty on Monday, March 16th should not report.
