Summers wins District 13 Senate seat

(SUMTER COUNTY, GA)- After going to a runoff election, the vacant seat for District 13 in the Georgia State Senate has been filled.
The seat was vacated following Senator Greg Kirk’s passing in late December.
Carden Summers has won the special election and will now represent Lee, Worth, Sumter, Dodge, Dooly, Crisp, Turner, and Tift Counties.
Summers and former Leesburg Mayor, Jim Quinn went to a runoff after a special election on February 4th where no candidate was able to secure more than 50 percent of the vote.
This time, Summers received nearly 52 percent of the vote, compared to Quinn who only received 48 percent.
