COMMUNITY DEMANDS ANSWERS AS NOLAN WELLS BURIED

As Nolan Wells’ family prepares to lay him to rest, questions still remain unanswered about his tragic death. The 18-year-old college football player went on a Fourth of July boat trip to Horn Island, a popular destination for holiday revelers off the Mississippi coast. Wells’ friends returned home from the gathering, but he did not. His body was found 2 days later on July 6, face down in the water off the Horn Island shoreline by a National Park Service agent. Two concurrent autopsy investigations are underway to determine the cause and manner of Wells’ death. The official investigation is being done by the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office and the family has sent their son’s body out of state for an independent autopsy, family attorney Ben Crump said. Today, a visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. local time in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The funeral service will follow, with the Rev. Al Sharpton delivering the eulogy.
