Former Homeland Security Secretary says ICE has ‘lost its way’ and that he ‘doesn’t recognize’ the agency anymore
Former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson tells Laura Coates there are significant changes that need to be made after ICE agents recently shot and killed two people, just days apart. The deadly incidents resulted in the Trump administration immediately suspending ICE vehicle stops nationwide. Johnson says despite Trump’s Border Czar stressing the suspension is just temporary, he recommends the agency go back to the basics of enforcement and removal operations. Johnson says he doesn’t support abolishing the agency but instead suggests dramatically changing the culture and policies.
