PCOM South Georgia Graduates 65 students on Friday, May 8

TIFTON, Ga. – On Friday, May 8, PCOM South Georgia celebrated 65 graduating students at a Commencement ceremony at Tifton Campus Conference Center, University of Georgia.
The ceremony honored graduates from all doctoral and graduate programs within the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the School of Health Professions and Sciences.
Dr. Kirby O. Smith delivered this year’s commencement address. A board-certified family physician and educator, Dr. Smith has devoted his career to advancing rural healthcare, serving as the inaugural program director of the Georgia South Family Medicine Residency Program, and the former chief of staff and chief of medicine at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
In 2019, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), a premier osteopathic medical school established in 1899, extended its commitment to the Southeast by establishing PCOM South Georgia. An additional teaching location in Moultrie, Georgia, PCOM South Georgia offers both a full, four-year medical program leading to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences.
After graduation, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduates will begin residency training in a wide range of specialties including emergency medicine, family medicine and internal medicine.
