Storm debris pickup planned April 13-17 by Dougherty County Public Works
ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty County Public Works is launching a special storm debris collection program following severe weather that impacted the area in mid-March.
The cleanup effort is focused on residents in unincorporated areas outside of Albany. Officials are asking residents to place storm debris at the right-of-way no later than Friday, April 10 to ensure pickup.
Collection is scheduled to take place April 13 through April 17.
To help crews work efficiently, residents are required to separate debris into specific categories:
- Vegetative debris, including branches, leaves, and logs
- Construction debris, such as drywall, lumber, and carpet
- Metal debris, including roofing materials and household appliances
Debris should be placed between the sidewalk or ditch and the curb, while avoiding placement near water meters, fire hydrants, low-hanging tree limbs, or utility lines.
Officials say any debris placed after the April 10 deadline may not be collected during this scheduled pickup cycle.
