META/YOUTUBE LIABLE IN SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION CASE (930pE)
A California jury has found Meta and YouTube liable on all counts in a landmark case accusing the tech giants of designing their platforms to be addictive — and of harming a young woman’s mental health as a result. The verdict, reached Wednesday, comes a day after a New Mexico jury found Meta liable for violating the state’s consumer protection laws and failing to protect children from sexual predators. The cases could help shape the outcome of hundreds of similar lawsuits already moving through the courts.
