South Georgia Weather Authority Forecast: October 24, 2025

Seasonably milder temperatures with increasing clouds this weekend. Soaking rain arrives overnight Sunday night into Monday morning. Low pressure tracks overhead then moves out with wrap-around moisture lingering for a few showers mid-week. Drier and much colder air mass for trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

Tropical Storm Melissa has strengthened some today with a reformation of its center of circulation to the east of previous estimates. Melissa is expected to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane this weekend with significant storm surge, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall with life-threatening and catastrophic flash flooding and landslides due to mountainous terrain across southern portions of Hispaniola – Dominican Republic/Haiti and especially Jamaica. Melissa is forecast to meander for several days under light stirring currents, then turn towards the north-northeastward over Cuba, then the southeastern Bahamas by early to middle portion of next week.
