City of Tifton opens Heat Wave Relief Area at Leroy Rogers Senior Center

TIFTON, Ga. – The City of Tifton has opened a Heat Wave Relief Area at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center in anticipation of the high temperatures expected this week. The Senior Center will be open this week from 8am-5pm, Monday, July 28th through Friday, August 1st with air-conditioned space for area residents to utilize.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee anticipates the dangerous heat will continue through Friday, but the hottest days will be today and Tuesday when highs are forecast to reach the upper 90s to lower 100s. The NWS Tallahassee issued a Heat Advisory for heat indices/apparent temperatures of 108-112, and this is in effect today.
