MOULTRIE, GA – Expect some construction related noise Tuesday in downtown Moultrie as the winner of Lowe’s 100 Hometowns initiative gets ready for “hammer time”

Moultrie’s Downtown Dining Breezeway was recently selected as one of the 100 impact projects that are the cornerstone of 100 Hometowns, an initiative to celebrate Lowe’s centennial.

There were over 2,200 qualified submissions to 100 Hometowns, and the final projects span 36 states and help thousands of people from coast to coast, each of them with a unique story to tell.

The City of Moultrie will host a volunteer event with Lowe’s Red Vest associates to work on its 100 Hometowns project, which will reimagine a neglected breezeway to create an outdoor shaded dining area and outdoor venue for the community.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for outdoor open-air seating in downtown Moultrie.

The shaded outdoor area will also bring more foot traffic area year-round, which is a boost for nearby businesses.

The renovation of the breezeway area will include a new roof, cleaning, new lighting, new paint job, photo murals, planters, benches, new columns, and more.

The project is set to begin around 8:30am.
