From Trojan to Fillie: Fullington Academy’s Jaye Beth Womble signs LOI with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College

PINEHURST, GA – Fullington Academy’s senior point guard, Jaye Beth Womble, signed her letter of intent Friday to play at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

“I had a friend that already went there and her dad’s the coach,” Womble said. “I’m just ready to play. I’m ready to see the fans in the stands. I’m just excited about it.”

It’s no surprise why the Fillies chose her either, as she’s having a career year with the Trojans. In 16 games, Womble is averaging 15 points, three rebounds and two steals with plenty more games remaining this season. She’d also scored 1,000 career points, be named the best defensive player twice, and was named to the All-Region team multiple times.

“Number one thing that stood out is she’s tenacious and hustles really, really hard on the floor,” said Fillies head basketball coach Charles Wimberly “Doesn’t mind going after basketballs and … her talent is is one that she goes wide open.”

And her current head coach agrees.

“I’ll push her hard and, you know, expect a lot out of her,” said Van Bailey. “She’s been so coachable and she’s taken that and she’s understood what to do with it.”

And even though the senior has her future locked in, she’s still focused on the present. One of her last goals before she graduates is to lead her team to the state championship.
