Dougherty County Government: Update on Road Conditions and Safety Precautions
ALBANY, Ga. – Due to the historic snowfall earlier this week and current weather conditions, temperatures are not expected to rise enough today to allow significant melting of ice and snow on roadways. With temperatures forecasted to drop again tonight, road conditions may become increasingly hazardous.
“Ensuring the safety of our employees and the public is our top priority,” said Dougherty County Administrator Deron King. “We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but these precautions are necessary as we navigate these unusual weather conditions. Please stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel.”
In the interest of public safety, Dougherty County Government offices and the Dougherty County Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the well-being of residents and employees. Plans are in place to resume normal operations on Friday, weather permitting.
We urge residents to exercise extreme caution if travel is necessary and to monitor updates from Dougherty County Emergency Management and local law enforcement.
