Shooting incident at Slappey Blvd. Walmart
ALBANY, Ga. – On January 5, 2025, officers responded to Walmart (2486 N Slappey Blvd) in reference to a shooting. Once on scene, witnesses advised a black male was seen shooting at a white male in a purple Tahoe truck. The black male then fled in a white Lexus. The altercation continued, and a short time later, officers located the purple Tahoe. The Tahoe fled, and officers engaged in a short pursuit.
The Tahoe stopped in the rear of 2505 N Slappey Blvd, where officers discovered the white male, identified as William Larry Hagan, had a gunshot wound to his left side. Hagan was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he is currently being treated. Officers were able to locate the Lexus a short distance away.
A short time later the registered owner, Joseph Jackson Jr, called to report the vehicle stolen. Jackson was detained and interviewed. During the interview, Jackson admitted to shooting at the truck. Jackson was charged with Aggravated Assault and transported to the Dougherty County Jail. The case is still being investigated, and more charges are pending.
