Albany’s Eta Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosts annual ‘Christmas Uplift’ helping those in need

ALBANY, Ga. – Over the weekend in Albany, Omega Psi Phi fraternity incorporated chose to give back to the community in Albany by giving out free food and clothing items.

Being held at SandTrap Club & Lounge 5.0, the brothers of the Eta Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. hosted its annual Christmas Uplift event to make sure everyone is taken care of for the holidays.

“It is very important. Any time we see an opportunity, a need, and we are in a position to help kind of fill their need. We think that this is our obligation. So, we take this as an opportunity to be able to just give back and provide to those who are in need during the holiday season,” said Zachary Powell, Chapter President.

They gave out clothes ranging for all ages, including suit jackets or just casual wear.

Along with making multiple plates the community members could pick up and enjoy.

Or… even bringing to others in need.

A big reason of doing so…

Is to help give back, like the others that gave before them.

“Me personally, you know, growing up, I come from a family of humble means, small beginnings. We didn’t really have much. So, I can remember during my childhood, during times like this during the holidays. It was people within the community, whether it be church organizations who would, you know, look out to help take care of me and my family. So, I think it’s very important that those of us who are able to do that, when we are presented the opportunity to do so, give back to those who are that fortunate, than us,” said Powell.

The brothers of Omega Psi Phi told me…

The goal was just to make sure everyone had a great week for the holiday season.
