Lee Co. Animal Shelter, Tractor Supply of Albany host ‘Paws & Cheer’ pet adoption and supplies donations event
LEESBURG, Ga. – The Lee County Animal Shelter is spreading holiday cheer by helping furry friends find their forever homes just in time for Christmas.
The local shelter opened its doors to the community, inviting residents to meet the many cats and dogs still waiting for a place to call home. Families had the chance to connect with these furry friends, hoping to find the perfect companion to welcome into their homes.
To make the day even more special, those adopting a pet, and current pet owners, were embraced by the event, with free supplies such as treats, toys, and blankets to help their new family member settle in.
“The shelter has been very blessed with generous donations from Tractor Supply from Albany, from their customers that have donated for the shelter, we have so many. We want to spread the cheer. It’s just giving back to the community what’s been given to us,” said Dana Mathis, Lead Kennel Tech, Lee Co. Animal Shelter.
Dana Mathis, Lead Kennel Tech at the Lee County Animal Shelter, shares the magic of adopting a pet during the Christmas season.
“You give a Christmas gift, but to take a living animal that doesn’t have anything and bring it into your home and cuddle and you know, let it lay in front of the fireplace. It just gives you this sense of joy that you just don’t get by giving just a Christmas gift. It’s a heartfelt joy that you get,” said Mathis.
Whether it’s a playful puppy, or a cuddly kitty, there’s a pet longing to become part of your story.
For those looking to add a new member to their family this holiday season, the Lee County Animal Shelter is ready to help you find your forever furry friend.
“Come on out to 101 Mossy Dell Road. We’re at the corner of Mossy Dell and 32. You can call us if you need directions at 229-759-6037. We’ll be happy to walk through. Find out which one fits for you and make your dream come true. And, their dream for Christmas,” said Mathis.
