Dementia Workshop

TIFTON, GA – The Department of Human Services is hosting a webinar Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. by “Dementia Friends.” According to their website, Dementia Friends is a “global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom, the Dementia Friends movement is now spreading through Georgia.

Over 130,000 people in Georgia are estimated to have Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia (ADRD). The population is aging; this number is expected to increase to about 190,000 in the next ten years according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. Families and friends often want to help those suffering, but don’t know how to go about it.

Those wishing to attend the webinar must pre-register here, but the event is free and open to the public.
