Wanted felon arrested by DCPD
ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty County Police Department (DCP) is pleased to announce the capture of Tony Hicks, age 53, who was wanted on multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Handgun and Cruelty to Children. Hicks was apprehended without incident at approximately 5:15 PM Sunday evening in the area of Nelms Road and Mustang Drive.
This successful operation was the result of a coordinated effort between the Dougherty County Police Department, the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and K9 Maverick also played a pivotal role in locating Hicks.
“We are committed to keeping our community safe, and tonight’s arrest is another example of teamwork at its finest,” said DCP Detective Lieutenant J.C. Phillips. “Thanks to the dedication of all officers involved, a dangerous individual is off our streets, and no one was harmed in the process.”
Lt. Phillips states that Hicks is considered a dangerous Felon due to being previously convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Handgun.
His brother, Derrick Jackson, 46, was also arrested and charged with Interference with the Apprehension of a Wanted Person for hiding Hicks at a house located in the 4800 block of Folly Drive.
