Opening night of Cordele Lions Club’s 80th Central Georgia Fair a huge success
CORDELE, Ga. – A great turnout here for Central Georgia Fair on opening night as everybody enjoyed the booths, the rides, the food, and even the Crisp County High Band making an appearance on opening day.
The evening began with the presentation of 4-H mini booths, where students showcased their passions and interests.
Each booth had an educational focus, covering a variety of topics, along with fun pumpkin designs for younger students.
These kids had a great time demonstrating their skills, and winners were rewarded with cash prizes for their impressive displays.
“Here’s a first place winner, obviously, that gets, I think, $100. And, then their second, third, fourth and fifth place. I’m in JRTC at Crisp County High School, and I wanted to share the impact that has with the community and all the stuff we do within the community,” said Kaylee Pitts, 1st place Winner, Student, Crisp County High School.
After the winners were announced, the fun continued with a lively performance from the Crisp County Middle School Band and an energetic DJ set.
The crowd enjoyed a variety of rides and indulged in all the fair food they could handle.
Most importantly, everyone’s participation contributes to raising funds for the Cordele Lions Club.
“(The fair) is our largest fundraiser. This is how we help the community. And, it gives us some of the funding and. But, it gives us the ability to put back into the community, helping with eye sight for those without options, for those who can’t afford it and don’t have insurance for it. It’s just how we put it back,” said Michael Fraser, Chairman, Cordele Lions Club.
The fair will be open until Saturday, with gates opening at 6 pm through Friday and 1 pm on Saturday, giving families even more opportunities to make lasting memories together before the fair wraps up.
