GSP investigating fatal crash in South Albany; 3 suspects believed to be involved in ASU shooting
ALBANY, Ga. – An early Sunday morning crash has left three people dead and law enforcement is looking for answers.
The crash happened in the 300 block of Magnolia Street in South Albany.
According to a report from the state patrol, the suspects did not yield to troopers during a traffic stop, while driving 75 mph in a 40 mph.
Three people were ejected from the car, including 18-year-old Jakwon Hill, 20-year-old Zion McClendon, and 17-year-old Quantavious Vicks.
Chief Persley spoke about the victims this morning.
“Regardless of what the actions of those who died, what they did prior to; you’ve got three families who are grieving right now. You got three families who have lost a part of them. You got three families that when Thanksgiving, when Christmas comes around, when New Year’s comes around with birthdays coming around, that person won’t be a part…” said Chief Michael Persley, Albany Police Department (APD).
The driver who the only survivor of the crash, we have no further update on their condition at this time.
Chief Persley says preliminary reports indicate that the three suspects are believed to be involved in the ASU fatal shooting, but that has not been confirmed at this time.
The joint investigation remains active and ongoing by GSP, APD and GBI.
