Best Friends Animal Society adoption rescue group helps Adel Animal Control empty shelter

ADEL, Ga. – And staying in Adel, we’re following up on a story we first shared with you a few weeks ago.

Adel’s Animal Control has successfully emptied its shelters with help from a rescue group.

Best Friends Rescue is transporting all the dogs from animal control out of state to a sanctuary where they can be put up for adoption.

The animal control team is thrilled to see these dogs get a chance at the good life they deserve, especially after having to cancel their adoption event due to Hurricane Helene.

One of the group members involved in this effort spoke with us about giving these dogs a shot at finding their forever homes.

“It’s a whole lot more efficient. It helps in that we don’t have to sit out there and dogs aren’t having to be out in the heat or really having to sit there and get their hopes up per se, you know, coming back to the shelter. It helps a lot, especially with their emotions,” said Ronan Ward, Adel Animal Control.

“But we want to help them out by taking some animals out of here. They’re overcrowded. So, we take them up to New York and where they get adopted at our center in Manhattan,” said Matthew Bronner, Best Friends Animal Society.

Adel Animal Control was set to host the adoption drive on Friday, October 4th, but were pushed back due to Hurricane Helene.
