Miracle in the Woods Foundation hosts 2nd annual “Rock for a Miracle” fundraiser
LEESBURG, Ga. – People from across southwest Georgia paid a visit to rural Leesburg Saturday for a cause near and dear to one local man.
The man in question is Leesburg’s Jamie Kiep, the executive director of Miracle in the Woods.
And, we caught up with him Saturday before their big “Rock for a Miracle” fundraiser and the goal they have in mind.
“The goal is to raise $40,000. And, our goal to reach that is to buy our first handicap accessible all terrain side-by-side vehicle. That way, some of the guests that have applied to come hunt with us; they are bound in a chair in some way, shape or form, and they just simply can’t get into the outdoors like you and I can. But with the funds that we’re raising here, they’ll be able to get in the outdoors, just like you and I can at any given time,” said Jamie Kiep, Executive Director, Miracle in the Woods.
Jamie went on to tell us about a recent experience that led them to wanting to raise over $40,000 dollars..
“There’s a gentleman last year we specifically couldn’t take because we couldn’t get him from his handicap-accessible van into the woods. It just wasn’t possible with what we had at the time. But, with the support we’ve had now and through the rest of the evening, I believe we’ll be able to accomplish that goal,” said Kiep.
Miracle in the Woods was only founded in 2022…
Coming from a very special place for Jamie.
“So, personally, we have a son with autism and Williams Syndrome. His name is Mason. He has had open heart surgery before. He was two months old and then one before he was a year old. And, he’s had a handful of surgeries since then. But, Mason is our why. That is why we take that’s why we have a big heart for people in that community or outside of this community that have special abilities and need our services,” said Kiep.
That’s why they’ve put on “Rock for a Miracle” for a second year in a row.
So they can help make sure that everyone can enjoy the outdoors…
But, also make sure they have something else.
“I think it gives them hope. It shows that there’s people out in the community that’s actually trying to fight or do something on their behalf. You know, some of them just can’t get in the outdoors, but we’re doing everything we can to make that possible,” said Kiep.
While they Rock for a Miracle, Jamie is encouraging everyone who couldn’t make it to help donate to Miracle in the Woods.
