ABAC’s popular culture convention ThunderCon 2024

TIFTON, Ga. – Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) students are putting on their own weekend event.

Students are getting ready for the college’s second annual ThunderCon.

The event is open to the public and will be featuring multiple popular culture topics, including panels with voice actors and the stars of Kraken Pro Wrestling.

We caught up with organizer Shawn Burnette Friday morning about growing ThunderCon, and trying to emulate the feeling of DragonCon in Atlanta.

“Oh, it’d be a great honor, actually, to bring just even a fraction of what they bring over there and Atlanta to come right here in Tifton. I mean, it’s a lot of fun to have people come together and enjoy things and just have fun with it. So, I mean, just have a small slice of that is a great opportunity.” said Shawn Burnette, Coordinator of Student Activities, ABAC.

ThunderCon will take place at the Carlton Center on ABAC’s main campus tomorrow from 10 am to 6 pm.
