Body recovered of Ashburn’s missing jet skier
Friends and family mourn the death of 33 year old Jason Cooper Sr.

ASHBURN, GA- A little before noon Tuesday, dive teams recovered the body of a missing Turner County man, who was submerged in an Ashburn pond for more than a day before being discovered.
Friends and family at the scene identify the man as 33 year old Jason Cooper Sr.
Cooper and a friend were jet skiing on a private pond on Weaver Way early Monday morning when their vessels capsized, sending both skiers under the water.
The female was able to safely get to shore and call 911, prompting the search all day Monday for Cooper which resumed again Tuesday morning.
A little before noon, family members reported that Cooper’s body was recovered, not far from the area where both jet skis capsized.
Cooper’s longtime friend Bam Bridges watched as crews dredged the relatively shallow pond with little luck, until the noon discovery.
Ashburn Police were assisted by Georgia Department of Natural Resources officers, the Georgia State Patrol and neighboring agencies.
Final arrangements for Jason Cooper are pending.
