CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: April 5, 2024
Wonderful weekend on the way! A reinforcing cold front with little fanfare to speak of has passed through the region. Cool start in low 40s to near 70 Saturday afternoon. Warmer closer to average on Sunday in mid to upper 70s. Low 80s and more humid early next week. Cloud cover may hold off for the solar eclipse on Monday. Partly cloudy skies are forecast. We will see 78% partial totality, beginning at 1:43 PM EDT, peaking at 3:02 PM EDT, and ending at 4:18 PM EDT. While it’s a partial solar eclipse for us, it’s still very important to never look directly at the sun, especially during the eclipse. I misspoke in my weathercast. The next solar eclipse will be in 21 years on August 12, 2045. SWGA will be in the path of totality for that one. Rain and thunderstorms likely on Thursday. Strong thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Rain tapers off on Friday as drier and cooler air briefly returns.
