Albany attorney announces her District Attorney candidacy
ALBANY, Ga. – As the polls prepare to open, one Albany attorney has set her eyes on the District Attorney seat of Albany, advocating for necessary change in the role.
“I know that with my vision and with my focus that I can move Albany in a direction to make it the Good Life City again,” said Elizabeth Gibson, Brimberry Kaplan & Brimberry Attorney.
Strong words from District Attorney seat candidate Elizabeth Gibson, who will be running against District Attorney incumbent Greg Edwards who has held the position since 2008.
“Usually when people stay in the seat for a particularly long time things begin to be mundane,” said Gibson.
Ultimately believing that she’s the best fit for the Good Life City…
“I think that my vision to have efficiency, effectiveness and transparency will allow me to takeover the seat and be able to structure the D.A.’s office in a way that would thrust Albany to higher heights,” said Gibson.
Gibson voiced the first thing she would do if elected is focus on the backlog of Albany’s D.A office
“The backlog forces victims to be held hostage to things that are in their past and also it forces defendants or allege defendants to be held hostage without getting any resolve,” said Gibson.
Gibson also asserts that the path to revitalizing the city of Albany begins with investing in the children.
“As an educator, I still go back to the kids, I teach them, because as a former educator I was always taught those are my babies, so if we reach the children at a young age we can prevent them from living a life of crime,” said Gibson.
But, all in all Elizabeth Gibson wants everyone to know that she loves this city.
“I’m a hometown girl, I’m born and raised in Albany and I love Albany, I did go to UGA for law school, but my roots are here and I’m home,” said Gibson.
Early voting for the District Attorney seat in Albany begins April 29th and all polls officially open on May 21st.
