Albany-Dougherty SIU traffic stop leads to major drug bust, arrests
ALBANY, Ga. – A routine traffic stop in Albany-Dougherty County on Tuesday, March 19 escalated into a significant drug bust.
The special investigative unit (SIU) initiated the stop for a window tint violation in the 2700 block of North Slappey Boulevard.
During the stop, a K-9 handler conducted a free air scan around the vehicle, with K-9 Raven alerting positively.
Three individuals were asked to exit the vehicle, leading to the recovery of various illegal substances and items, including marijuana, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, fentanyl, a digital scale, and a 9mm handgun.
All 3 subjects were taken to the office and interviewed. 42-year-old Stacy Perez and 38-year-old Travis Miller were both arrested and transported to the Dougherty County Jail following the investigation.
Stacy Perez, who was the driver during the incident, faces multiple charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related objects, possession of schedule I substance (ecstasy), and a window tint violation.
Travis miller also faces several charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of schedule I substance (ecstasy).
