CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: February 29, 2024

What a cold front! Nearly 20° cooler compared to yesterday when we hit 82°! The month as a whole was near average, but as usual had drastic swings in temperature. Coldest morning 29° on 20th, warmest 82° on 28th, & wettest 2.65″ on 12th but up to 9″+ in some areas that resulted in flash flooding and minor to moderate river flooding. 5 freezes but no hard freezes. And, at least 3 tornadoes from that surprise Sunday event on 4th, an EF-2 120 mph winds in Lowndes Co. with 2 injuries and an EF-1 100 mph winds in Thomas Co., & one in Clinch Co., but can’t find the rating on that one. We finished near average for monthly rainfall, and even though we dealt with flooding this month it has really lowered the yearly deficit and erased any drought.

Cool and wet finish to workweek on Friday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms lingers into Saturday. Hopefully the rain holds off for the Albany Combos Marathon and Half-Marathon and the Tifton Rhythm and Ribs Festival. Lower rain chances Sunday and Monday. Warmer in the mid to upper 70s. Rain and thunderstorms likely again on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
