CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: February 2, 2024
Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow and predicts an early spring. Remember, the rodent prognosticator or groundhog is only right about 30% of the time and has received a poor track record of forecasting on Groundhog Day. Winter officially ends on March 19. We’ll see 50/50 conditions for the first weekend of February. Warm and sunny for the first half on Saturday. 70s are not out of reach in the afternoon. Soggy and windy on Sunday as an occluded low pressure system affects the area. Sustained easterly winds of 20-30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph at times. A Wind Advisory may be issued on Sunday. 1″-2″ of rainfall is expected with isolated totals of 3″ possible. Temperatures may reach 60 for the southern counties, but most remain in the 50s all day Sunday and Monday. Drier, sunny, but still breezy on Tuesday. Cool mornings in mid 30s and warm afternoons in mid to upper 60s. Warming trend for end of the week thru next weekend.
