“The qualities that I bring is experience. I think that because of my five years of experience already as a judge, I have heard 8,700 cases, more than that. I have handled both civil and criminal cases. My background as a lawyer prior to being a judge, I handled very complex cases, murders, child molestations. I prosecuted those types of offenses. And, because the Superior Court is the most complex of the courts in the state side, they’re the most serious criminal cases. It’s going to be very important to have someone who not only can deal with volume, but who can also bring the experience of already deciding cases. We want someone that has had some experience. Judicial experience, I think, is critical,” said Judge Victoria Johnson, Dougherty County Magistrate Court Judge.

Judge Johnson plans to enhance transparency and public trust in the judiciary system through clear communication and community engagement.

“Open courtrooms are key and they’re critical. The media is welcome to the courtroom. I want the media to feel that they can come and sit in and watch because the public needs to know. The public needs to participate. And I think that if the public is involved with seeing what’s happening in the courtrooms, then they are more connected and more invested in their own community,” said Judge Johnson.
