Quinetta Hall, owner and operator of Q’s Cakes and More, shares an insightful glimpse into her journey leading her business toa remarkable decade of operation.

“It was simply amazing. Celebrating my ten years, because I never thought I’d make it that far. The journey has been very challenging, but yet rewarding. The community has been amazing in all of it. It started in my home. I had a bakery adjacent to my home that was licensed by the Cottage Food Law, which is under the Department of Agriculture. And, doing business, you always have to do things decently and in order. You have to stay licensed and keep your boards up. So, I stayed in my home for two years, and I finally moved into a brick and mortar, in the Mary Acres Plaza. I was thankful to be given an opportunity to do that. I stayed there for four years, then I moved here, and I’ve been here for three years, so a total of ten years. It’s just been amazing,” said Quinetta Hall, owner and operator of Q’s Cakes & More.

Beyond it’s delectable cakes and desserts, the business caters to diverse taste with a menu featuring sandwiches, chicken, and even healthy menu options. Elevating convenience, they have expanded their repertoire with a 24 hour vending machine at Suite 17 of 2700 Dawson Road. Beyond the Albany community, Q’s delightful creations have garnered attention from none other than Paula Deen herself.

“I met Paula through one of our mutual friends, Susan. We call her bubbles, and she’s Paula’s best friend. She comes here, patronize me a lot. I told her years ago that I wanted to meet Paula, and she showed up one day with Paula. So, Paula ate lunch here. She licked at a plate. She enjoyed it so much. She then took the picture and she asked me, would I be willing to be in her Christmas magazine? So, I’ve been in a Christmas magazine of hers. I’ve been in one of her recipe books and we’ve done some clips on YouTube together. So, it’s been amazing, you know, knowing Paula Deen and being approved by a lady of her caliber,” said Hall.

“My heart is for people that need second chances, because I was given a second chance. And, that’s where my heart is. And, I always want to be able to pour into my community and let them know one bad decision does not mean your life is over. You can come back from that. I came back from it. My whole journey has been redemption because I made some bad choices early on in my life. I redeemed myself through god and he allowed me to come back and be able to give back to my community in that way,” said Hall.
