Fatal Crisp house fire under investigation

CORDELE, GA – Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are on the scene of an early morning house fire that proved deadly.

Authorities have yet to identify the victim in this morning’s blaze in the 3000 block of Highway 280.

Crisp County Fire & Rescue, Crisp EMS as well as sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly at the home after the 6:00am call for help.

First responders say the home was fully involved when they arrived on scene and quickly learned of one person who was still inside the residence.

Crisp County Fire Chief Michael Postell says despite his crew’s efforts in attacking the flames, the deceased was found after extinguishing the fire.

An investigation into what sparked the fire is now underway.
