Phoebe Hospital entrance temporarily blocked by city sewer project

ALBANY, Ga. – As work continues on the City of Albany’s combined sewer separation project on Jefferson Street adjacent to Phoebe’s main campus, crews are moving into the area directly in front of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

As they begin work on Jefferson Street in the block between 2nd Avenue and Willson Way, crews must temporarily block the entrance to the hospital and medical towers from Jefferson Street.  That means all patients and visitors coming to the main parking lot will need to enter from 2nd Avenue.  It’s not clear exactly when the closure will happen, but it likely will occur Thursday or Friday.

All traffic to the emergency center must continue to cross Jefferson Street at 4th Avenue to get to the ER entrance and ER parking area.

“We apologize for any confusion the city’s construction and detours are causing our patients and visitors.  There will continue to be some changes to traffic flow every few weeks as the city’s project progresses and the actual construction zone moves north.  We will do our best to spread the word, and we encourage our patients and visitors to check regularly for updates,” said Deb Angerami, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer.

The latest traffic detour and parking information can be found at www.phoebehealth.com and on Phoebe’s social medial channels.
