Artesian Alliance hiring new positions; Chehaw Park & Zoo hiring lead educator

ALBANY, Ga. – Chehaw Park & Zoo are expanding its workforce. This initiative is poised to bring fresh energy and expertise into the heart of the Artesian Alliance.

The Artesian Alliance is actively seeking to fill the role of lead educator, a position focused on orchestrating and nurturing positive educational interactions.

“This lead educator position is a primary keeper for our program animal collection. So, these are going to be the different critters we take out for programming, that we go to visit schools or when you visit us here, these are the animals that we use. They will be presenting these animals to school groups and to the general public when they come to visit on weekends,” said Jackie Entz, Director of Education, Artesian Alliance.

Director of Education of the Artesian Alliance, Jackie Entz, unveils the VIP’s of the Animal Kingdom that the future lead educator will be overseeing.

“Now, I figured it would be fun to meet one of the creatures that our upcoming team member will get a chance to handle and take care of. This is Garth, we have two baby alligators that are in our Chehaw program animal collection. We have Wayne and Garth; they like to party all night long because they are nocturnal. These are one of the many animals, like I said, that our new lead educator would be responsible for providing daily care for all these different creatures, making sure all their needs are met, food, water, social structure, and enrichment. These are also one of the creatures that would get to travel and come to the center of the zoo or visit other facilities, so that we can create connections between people and nature,” said Entz.

Jackie Entz provides a comprehensive overview of the qualifications essential for the position and offers a glimpse into the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

“We are looking for someone who has experience in the field. So, this would be a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; either biology, zoology, wildlife management, maybe psychology, or five years of experience in the field. This is a very knowledgeable position where we have to know a lot about animals. Also, we are going to be in front of the public and teaching people about these animals. So, we are definitely looking for that sparkly, bubbly personality that likes to share their passion for animals with other people. When we hire folks, they get the opportunity, not to just work at one place, but they get to dabble in the other places. It’s wonderful because we are able to cohesively have an education team that are well-rounded and can bounce back and forth between our three facilities,” said Entz.
