“We actually held a training for coordinated entry and we have eight local service providers who came in, who were able to take a three-hour training with DCA representative, Mr. Isaac Davis. We’re able to assess where people are and then directly to the proper areas or organizations that actually have direct services. So, it’s a really big piece we are looking to bring in and we’re looking to implement over the next couple of months,” said Orson Burton Jr., Public Service Manager.
The DCED also provide housing counseling and are looking for new applicants to occupy new homes undergoing construction.
“The housing counseling services are provided for all of Region Fourteen and Sumter county. We serve sixteen counties, and what housing counseling is all about, is providing a housing opportunities for renting fair housing, and first purchase and default and it depends on the individual need of housing,” said BJ Jackson Burton, Certified Housing Counselor.
