APD investigates fatal E. Oglethorpe shooting
(ALBANY, GA) – It was just before 4 O’Clock Friday morning in the 100 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard where an incident left one 24 year old in the hospital, and another 24 year old found dead.
Albany Police Chief, Michael Persley says that while the location of the actual killing is unknown, it started at an East Oglethorpe Waffle House; And they’re looking at every avenue.
Persley said late Friday morning that, “Currenly, we are interviewing witnesses and reviewing camera footage from a couple areas, and we have received a couple of phone calls from the community.”
It’s unknown what spurred the shooting that left 24 year olds, Alonso Wright hospitalized, and Rossini Jones dead.
Police haven’t ruled out if it’s gang-related.
“That we don’t know at this time. I’m sure we will find out as the investigation continues on,” says Persley.
While no suspects have been identified at this time, there’s one more avenue investigators are currently looking at: The first hand account of Alonso Wright.
Wright says he and Rossini were driving on Oglethorpe Boulevard when they were shot, wright driving straight to the hospital, where Rossini ultimately died from his wounds
“We have been getting information from the second victim, which is good. So the investigation is moving in the right direction,” says Chief Persley.
