United Way of Colquitt County celebrates 80 years of service, hosts fundraiser for community agencies
MOULTRIE, Ga. – United Way of Colquitt County celebrated 80 years of service by uniting many of its non-profit organizations for a fundraiser.
“We have a very lofty goal of 610,000 dollars to raise for our community and for our community agencies,” said Lisa Zeanah, Campaign Chair for United Way for 2024.
And, to reach such a goal they’ll need all the help they can get from organizations including…
“Boys and Girls Club, community action, we have Cross Road Admissions which is a mission house for displaced men,” said Zeanah.
But what will they use this six figure donation for?
“Those will go to the member agencies and to their affiliates, anything that’s a non-profit agency,” said Zeanah.
The United Way is responsible for the funding of many non profit organizations.
“We’ve primarily fund and support 23 or four of our nonprofits in Colquitt county,” said Anne Swartzentruber, Board Chair of United Way.
Also meaning that…
“There are not for profits that wouldn’t exist if not for the funding of united way, it’s basically a way to collect the funds from people rather than writing five different checks to five different organizations,” said Swartzentruber.
United Way’s mission is simple…
“Everybody coming together, one common goal, we share a common bond and we want to create a better community,” said Swartzentruber.
The organization has lit the torch for the future in Moultrie.
“It’s just great to look around and say this is what happens, this is what can happen when everybody pulls their resources together and works together,” said Swartzentruber.
