Neighborhood responds to kidnapping suspect’s capture
(ALBANY, GA) – After a nearly week-long search, kidnapping suspect, Tristian Brown is in Albany Police custody. And they say that’s due to help from people living in the 900 block of South Street, in East Albany.
“A person like that is out of their mind, they shouldn’t be on the streets, especially on the streets. Kids play up and down this block, all day, every day. He shouldn’t be around them,” says East Albany resident, Chloe Castel.
Brown had initially been caught by Worth County deputies and was being treated at Phoebe Putney’s main campus for a gunshot wound he suffered before he discharged himself from the hospital and took off.
He had been wanted on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, forgery, and several counts of aggravated assault to name a few.
South Street resident, Jordan Daniels tells us, “I think that it’s good because kidnapping is wrong. You know, there’s a lot of stuff going on in the world, but if you go and take someone against their free will i don’t think that’s good at all.”
As of Saturday morning, Brown is officially in Albany Police custody.
For people on South Street, some of which knew brown, say they’re happy that he’s off the streets.
Castel and Daniels tell us, “It’s crazy…You wouldn’t expect it, but i say just keep your eyes open. Cause you never know what’s gonna happen when you step outside.”
Brown’s arrest is the result of the combined efforts of the Albany Police Department Gang Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force.
