APD catch suspect accused of shootings early Friday morning

(ALBANY, GA) – Police have caught a man accused of starting an altercation on West Highland Avenue that turned deadly, before allegedly killing his estranged wife.

“…A person called in and reported white female, Gwendolyn McMillan, who was found deceased at the scene. Through further investigations, we’ve developed the suspect as white male, John McMillian,” says Albany Police Chief, Michael Persley.

McMillian is accused of first shooting 59 year old, Daniel Bonham, with Bonham succumbing to his injuries late Friday morning.

Then an hour later, police say McMillian then shot and killed his estranged wife Gwendolyn McMillian ..

Chief Persley says this isn’t McMillan first time domestic trouble.

He tells us, “He had been arrested for battery back in November of last year, and it was against Ms. McMillian…”

While McMillian is now in custody, detectives continue to investigate the motives.

As he awaits transport back to Albany, to face a pair of murder counts.
