CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: July 31, 2023
Hot start to August, Wetter end to the week...
It was a hot and wet last weekend of July with a few stronger storms producing some hefty rainfall totals. 3.4″ measured at the Valdosta Regional Airport on Sunday. We stay mostly dry though midweek for the first few days of August with the exception of isolated thunderstorms sneaking west into the far eastern counties. More widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday with a better coverage of activity lasting through the weekend into early next week. Higher humidity sends heat index “feels-like” near heat advisory levels once again.
The low pressure that brought us the rain on Friday is now moving over cooler waters of the western Atlantic attached to frontal boundaries & development is becoming unlikely. Disturbance over the southern Atlantic has medium to high chances of development.
