“It’s not something that we get on the regular basis, where someone is actually assaulted going into their vehicle, but that has been something that’s happened recently,” says Captain, Wendy Luster.
Police say they’re seeing aggravated assaults happen in multiple ways.
Captain Luster tells us, “Our aggravated assault cases have ranged from a variety of things. They could be domestic violence cases. They could be a drive by shooting, it could be a choking, a strangulation incident.”
The Albany Police say that the number of aggravated assaults has held steady, but that also means cases can begin to stack, and officers are asking for help in the criminal evolution they’re witnessing.
“…Then the next week, we’ll have drive-by assaults, so that’s something that will bring the aggravated assault cases up. So it’s important in those type of cases that the community cooperates with us,” says Captain Luster.
