CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: July 18, 2023

Less Haze, More Heat

The milky hazy sky lingers over the area this afternoon. The Air Quality Index has actually worsened to the unhealthy category over the northern communities. Sensitive category for the rest of the area. On the flip side of things, the haze is keeping it from being outrageously hot. That changes the next 24 hours as the smoke plume disperses. The heat peaks Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures in the upper 90s. Heat index “feels-like” 105-110. Practice heat safety, stay hydrated, stay cool in the A/C if you can, and make sure to look before you lock by checking the backseat! Rain and thunderstorms are likely this weekend, as well as not as hot with cooler temperatures.

Don is now a Tropical Storm and continues to spin over the northern Atlantic and will remain a “fish storm” out-to-sea, but is expected to weaken in a few days.
