TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Southwell medical team is teaching CPR classes to the community in the case of an emergency.
“Statistics show that only 40 percent of those that are experiencing cardiac arrest in the community will receive help,” said Chrissy Dent, Clinical Development Manager.
The community in Tifton needed help.
“We actually had outreach from our community, several people outreached and asked could we have a community event where, we could show community members how to save lives,” said Jill McIntyre, Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Wellness for Southwell.
Because the worst thing you can do is…
“Just standing by and doing nothing,” said Dent.
But, how do you know when someone is in need of CPR?
“For CPR you want to look for the fact that they have no pulse so you would feel a choroid pulse if they have no pulse,” said Dent.
The more people that know CPR…
“Is another life that can be saved and so it’s real important that everybody no matter how old or young you are, it’s a very easy concept that everyone can grasp on to,” said Dent.
