ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University encourages students to unlock their potential with Educational Talent Search.
Albany State University’s Educational Talent Search is a federally-funded TRIO program.
“TRIO has a lot of resources for our students. Here at Albany State, the students that are here for this particular event are all a part of our Educational Talent Search program; that works with middle and high school students all across the State of Georgia to help them with the college going process, to help them as far as career development, as well as assist through the financial aid process,” said Juawn Jackson, President, Georgia TRIO.
Director of Educational Talent Search for ASU, Callie Evans, talks about mentorship and student support.
“I think mentorship is very important because a lot of students don’t have the support or they may not have the resources. So, to have the talent search program here to provide those resources and mentorship is amazing,” said Callie Evans, ASU Director of Educational Talent Search.
ASU students Jurdyn Johnson and Daniel Ausby talk about their experience with the ASU Educational Talent Search.
“For field day, we got first place. The field day, it’s a great experience. Even during the trivia, like, we all communicated with each other and, you know, different energies are in the room. Being around other kids and going to visit other colleges. Also learning different things like sitting down talking about how to get a scholarship or how to study for the SAT and stuff like that, it is really nice and I really love this program,” said Jurdyn Johnson, ASU student, ETS attendee.
“The ASU and ETS experience really has showed me different things that I probably wouldn’t be able to see myself, so I thank ASU and ETS for that. And, also seeing other ETS people from different parts of Georgia is really nice,” said Daniel Ausby, ASU student, ETS attendee.
