Ashburn Police unite with local children to create hand-painted mural

All hands together...

ASHBURN, Ga. – Here in Ashburn the police united the children of the community to create a mural in support of the community….I’m getting my hand painted right here, and I’m going to place it right on that car.

“Major that hand print looks pretty familiar we’re going to have to place you under arrest…” (Major escorts Cameron Sanders away)

“It just puts a positive light on both sides because usually the police are called when things are awry,” said Ashburn Chief of Police Richard Purvis.

Children in the community were outspoken about the impact of this event…

“It builds community because it shows it shows that the people in Ashburn how much Ashburn cares,” Chase Rivers, participant in mural.

Chief Purvis tells me that the police and the community need each other…

“The police department can do nothing without the community and the community needs the police department to enact civility,” said Ashburn Chief of Police Richard Purvis.

A community that knows each other is a stronger community overall.

“Y’all need to go over here, y’all need to talk to people, lets talk to the community, lets see what they’re doing and I love it,” said Ashburn Chief of Police Richard Purvis.

Luckily they let me off with a warning…
